Self-Care Summer Sundays - for a positive week

My work-from-home & life balance during the week has been dialed down to a fulltime commitment to make sure that both my mental and physical health stay in check. So when Friday hits, I am your gal who loves to enjoy the weekend to the fullest, “hello weekend!!” There is no holding back when it comes to spending time adventuring, working on my own projects, being on the water, and cherishing time with friends & love.

I used to be the type who would not stop and just chill (ALWAYS on-the-go - still kinda am). Since COVID, I have learned to take time for self-care, scheduling, and forming healthy habits including self-love Sunday - a day that preps me for a positive week ahead!

Here are some ways I like to spend my Sunday, I hope these little nuggets help you amplify your Sunday.

Coffee & schedule: I am the most productive in the morning and find that with a nice cup of coffee (with my fave superfoods by Organika - collagen, maca, mood), often sitting with a wool blanket on the porch, notepad & pen I can schedule out what I want to tackle for the day and week ahead. I love a good list - the feeling of crossing something out is like brushing my teeth. Great! I try to categorize my list into sections: work (research, priorities, etc), personal goals (website, workout, etc), and dirty tasks (banking, laundry, etc). This really helps keep me focussed during the week and keep organize!

Workout: as you already know, I love the water like no other and find a sense of freedom, creativity, and joy from beach walks, paddles, runs, stretches near/on the ocean are ways I like to get movement in. I try to structure my fitness around the weather and the water to take advantage of the summer days as much as possible. My goal is to go for multiple walks and 1 thing that is a bit more intense such as a paddle or beach run.

Tidy: starting Monday on a clean slate - knowing the plants are watered, my tote bag is bearable, and the house is picked up is something that sparks joy for me. I like to make sure that sand isn’t littering the wood floors and the house is de-cluttered and organized. Gives not only a sense of accomplishment but ease.

Grocery haul: I have been a HUGE fan of shopping local and fresh. I’ve been enjoying ordering groceries from Legends Haul here in Vancouver, Canada where they offer an amazing selection of local and sustainably sourced food (and they deliver!!). It’s so nice to get a shop and some food prep in for the crazy week ahead - out of food is never fun on a Monday.

Self-care: This is pretty new to me actually. I think since COVID I have really enjoyed taking the time to put a face mask on, appreciate the sunset, do my nails, and really take a sec to just enjoy life’s little things - I love listening to a podcast and looking at the houses along the beach. Cozying up, really feeling the present, and manifesting the future has helped balance my health especially the soul.

Dream: My mom’s favourite lyrics, “trust beyond the skies” by Celine Dion really captivates the truth behind reaching for the sky and falling in love with what’s to come. I research, set goals (financially & career), and plan what I would like one day and where I see our life one day together. I find keeping a journal or talking with someone about your goals and future makes it feel that you are that much closer to making them happen.

I’d love to hear some of your self-love practices!
